The recovery of secondary forests on swidden fields reported in
this study is encouraging from management of tropical secondary
forests and biodiversity conservation viewpoints. At the moment,
the management objectives of these stands are not defined, the
end-use is not set and no active silvicultural interventions are
implemented to put these lands either into production or
conservation purposes. Therefore, management plans should be
prepared in consultation with the local people
