Conclusion
Public awareness of stroke symptoms as well as rapid and effective assessment of suspected stroke is critical for optimum patient outcomes. Failure to seek immediate medical attention is the most common reason for delays in quickly reaching the emergency department after the onset of stroke and prevents a majority of patients from being treatment candidates.[29] The general public does not widely recognize stroke as a medical emergency, nor do they often recognize the signs and symptoms of stroke onset.[30] Utilizing emergency response services should be encouraged, as this has been shown to decrease significantly the delay of treatment for patients with stroke.[25]
