Entitlement theory explains a person's (or household's) ability to get income, food and other necessities in term of their ability to exploit 'endowment' (essentially land, legal, social and customary rights. this concept is expanded by the sustainable livelihoods approach to include a wider range of 'capitals' (human, social, natural, physical and financial)
