In one of the few public accounts of the Sampran Forum’s history, Prawase reportedly
observed that people had very strong differences on the issue and “that it might be
difficult for the group to resolve this difference, and that structured attempts to do so
might only stimulate additional conflicts, especially given the level of ego among the
participants” (Sanguan 2006, 48). He therefore instead suggested that the forum serve “asa mechanism to share experiences and lessons on a range of issues…[as] kind of informal
think tank, aimed at improving [the doctors’] intellectual capabilities” (Sanguan
2006, 49).
