The formation of a non-uniform morphology
(macrophase separation of the blend components)
entirely different from that of the blend components,
suggests that the block copolymer molecules are only
partially compatible. In the light of the conclusions
drawn via the study of binary diblock copolymer
blends [107,108], macrophase separation should not
occur because the value of molecular weight ratio r is
close to unity (see Table 1). Consequently, the
demixing of the block copolymer molecules is
associated with asymmetric architecture of the star
block copolymer.
