The cage model was set up to simulate the fluid structure interaction due to waves and current with the Morison equation
formulation in Eq. (12). Irregular waves with the spectral characteristics shown in Fig. 8 were combined with a current of 1.0 m/s and applied to calculate forces on model components. Table 1 lists the drag coefficient of each element employed in the numerical model. Nodes corresponding to anchors were fixed. All elements in the model were subjected to gravity, buoyancy, drag and inertial forces, and the water depth was set to 30 m. No seafloor friction was implemented in the analysis.
