The risk projection values are calculated before the actual
day. On country risk graphs, we plot the minimum and the
maximum risk projection values for each day. Our results show
that the actual risk values always fall within the projected
minimum and maximum risk values. Moreover, the actual
risk values are equal to the maximum projected risk when an
incident occurs, and the actual risks are equal to the minimum
projected risk values when no incident occurs.
The terrorism risk values range from 0 to 100, where 100
is the highest risk. Whenever there is a new incident, the
risk level increases and it decreases with time when no new
incident occurs in the country.
For real life incidents values, we attribute the value zero
(0) if no incident occurs, and the value one hundred (100) if
an incident occurs in the given day.
Note that the Future Risk Projection results always
converge toward zero as long as there are no new incidents.
The projection results will reach zero (0) in one condition
only: when no incidents occur within the time period the
analyst selects. For instance, when the risk projection for
Mali uses the last 60 days incidents data; if no incidents
occur during those 60 days, the projection results will equal
to zero.
