MY WORK ETHOS (BY DR. NATALIE)
I believe change is possible. I have spent five years of my graduate education in behavioral sciences studying how to help people overcome their life problems. Both my personal life and my professional life have influenced my passion. I am able to see issues from both the client’s and the therapist’s perspective. I am an accredited professional ‘grief recovery’ specialist, facilitator, and trainer. Within my practice, I apply different techniques, all of which deal with a single objective – to help people achieve happiness, contentment, and greater success in their lives. My personal goal is to guide people through various stages of their development and discovery so that they can learn about their unique potential and maximize it.
As a counselor, it is my moral and ethical responsibility to provide quality professional care that is non-judgmental, empathetic, and confidential. Having been trained in humanistic depth psychology (Adlerian, Client-centered, Satir model-based, and Existential), I tend to integrate various techniques to help clients uncover their inherent strengths. It is my personal and professional goal to encourage clients to make change happen to support not only the individual’s wellness, but also the well-being of the community at large by inspiring people to feel more connected with others. When people feel that they are a part of something, the drive to thrive is accelerated. It is important for me to provide an experience for clients that would help them discover the version of the ‘self’ they strive to be and guide them through their personal evolution.
Listening to my clients’ personal stories is a privilege; being heard and understood is often the first significant step towards the process of change. The counseling space I provide is one of acceptance and trust. My work is about creating hope for people, and it is always an honor to be able to walk with others through both their pain and their victories. To ensure that I deliver a high standard of counseling, I am in regular consultation with registered professionals and attend continuing professional development workshops.
