The prime purpose of the ORSA is to assess whether its risk management and solvency position is currently adequate and is likely to remain so in the future. Responsibility for the ORSA rests at the top level of the insurer’s organisation, the insurer’s Board and Senior Management. Where it is appropriate to the nature, scale and complexity to do so, the effectiveness of the ORSA should be assured through internal or external independent overall review by a suitably experienced individual, such as a Chief Risk Officer, who reports directly to or is a member of the Board.
