In this system , a conventional hot water storage tank is presented and compared with a specific design of the
presented LHTES system. First , the hot water storage tank is described and secondly, the proposed system is
detailed. For the analysis a constant temperature of 65ºC is selected for the charging and 50ºC for the discharging.
These temperature levels are typical for domestic heating applications and DHW production. Although solar energy
can lead to sensibly higher temperatures, this system stores the energy at the demand temperature level, which
moreover, reduces the heat losses to the surroundings.
