Raghuraj and
Telles21 studied girls aged 12 to 16 years who participated
in 6 months of yoga training, and they found a
significant increase in handgrip strength. Dash and
Telles22 tested handgrip strength in normal adults
(n 37), children (n 86), and patients with
rheumatoid arthritis (n 20) following yoga training.
All subjects attended a yoga camp lasting for 1
month for adults, 10 days for children, and 14 days
for patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Subjects of all
3 categories showed a significant increase in grip
strength following yoga training.
