They are in the emerging stage of their life cycle. The rest of the country falls behind in terms of either supply structure or professionalism. There is a lack of convention centres, networking is on a low scale and promotional activity is insufficient. The paper also explores the impact that local resources have on convention destinations over the different phases of their life cycle. Through CLS life cycle analysis, factor endowments could be better identified to developthe competitive advantage of a destination. The Quantile model estimates show that university and conference organisers and supporting agencies uniformly affect convention destinations at every stage of their life cycle.
