Finally an MDR-7506 clone with an optional straight cable, that part is brilliant although the cable is too short. For field recording there isn't that accentuated bass you need for identifying wind/handling noise. The description includes, "Enhanced low end designed to allow field engineers to detect wind noise effectively, and for studio engineers to monitor bass and sub bass frequencies." Maybe so but not enough. Otherwise well-made. It's great that the cable can be replaced as that's usually what goes first. Update: After 5 months use I have to say that the connector between the cable and the headphones is not secure enough. It can come loose when you least expect it. The design has the same liability regarding wind that the 7506 has. Wind gets into the earcups and makes monitoring difficult. I see that a number of manufacturers now have straight-cord options.
