Attitude refers to the evaluation of the story
plot, or how positive or negative story receivers perceive it
to be. Two determinants play a role in attitude: how desirable
(or undesirable) story receivers find the story plot (affective
and cognitive responses) and how truthful they perceive it
to be (beliefs). As mentioned, transported story receivers
are more likely to perceive the story plot as desirable and
truthful, which positively affects their attitudes (Escalas
2004a, 2007; Green and Donahue 2011; Wang and Calder
2006).
