Now, our brains are linear. Our brains are not built to think exponentially. So, being able to think exponentially is an acquired skill. Moore’s law essentially says that computing power doubles every two years for the same dollar. That’s a compound annual improvement rate of 41 percent. When you improve at a 41 percent/year, essentially you double every two years. Over 20 years, that’s a 1,000 time improvement. Over 40 years, it’s a 1 billion time improvement, not 2,000. That’s why computing has disrupted or enabled the disruptions of so many industries. I mean the smartphone that you have in your hands is a billion times more powerful than it would have been 40 years ago. It would have cost $600 billion for that same computing power, and now you hold that in your hands.
