Cadmium (Cd) is a group IIB metal that has an atomic
weight of 112.41 g/mol and it exists in the 0 or 2 oxidation
state. It is found naturally in the earth’s crust and is usually
present in the environment as an inorganic salt (such as
cadmium oxide (CdO), cadmium chloride (CdCl2), or cadmium
sulfate (CdSO4)
