The antifungal activity of isolates of Bacillus spp. was examined using a dual plate
assay. The results are given in Table 1. Isolates SS-6.2, SS-27.2, SS-35.4, SS-38.2, SS-38.3,
SS-38.4 and SS-40.2 all demonstrated good antifungal potential, with one or two exceptions.
The strongest and broadest antagonistic activity against all fungi tested was exhibited by two
strains, SS-12.6 (from 48% to 70%) and SS-13.1 (43% to 74%), whilst isolates SS-39.1 and
SS-39.3 were effective against the fewest fungus species and also had the weakest antifungal
activity. F. solani was the most resistant fungus, sensitive to only five Bacillus spp. isolates,
