No module here, but thanks to a cut-away
small seconds dial, the watch does offer a peek
inside ETA’s Peseux 7001, the slim, handwound
engine to which Nomos’s original
movements can trace back their DNA, and
which is arguably rather underrated within
ETA’s oeuvre. Louis Erard’s designs can veer
between derivative and whacky (as with many
small brands, there are too many references)
but this strikes, I think, a nice balance. Openworked
dial sections are hardly original,
but this is easily one of the better-designed
examples, comparing favourably with models
from, say, Frédérique Constant or Tissot. The
skeleton section works unexpectedly well with
the retro numerals – it’s only a shame that there
isn’t currently a version of the watch without
the open-working. It would be a handsome
contender for sure.
