benefits were crucial in tropical areas, where these pests grow
continuously over a year. Application of this culture technique
can be considered as an alternative approach for large-scale
production of some desired and valuable crops.
In this paper, a model version of a low-cost, in vitro
hydroponic system was constructed using a simple cylindrical
plastic box consisting of one or three storeys. The ability to
produce potato microtubers of the novel system and the
influence of the number of storey on microtuber formation rate
and quality were investigated. To further optimize the
performance of the proposed system, two different porous
materials used as carrier substrate were also tested
