Satisfaction often surfaces in debates on QOL.
Scherer and Cushmans (2001) study of QOL in patients
with spinal cord injury suggest that patients
are satisfied with many aspects of their
lives. Ferrans and Powers (1992, p. 29) define
QOL as ‘‘a persons sense of well-being that
stems from satisfaction or dissatisfaction with
areas of life that are important to him/her’’.
Rahmqvist (2001) concurs that satisfaction is central
to the debate while Kaasa and Loge (2003)
attest to not only including satisfaction but also
adding happiness and morale
