Mitrovic's book invites comparison to others published in recent years seeking to establish connections between philosophy and architecture in some way. These can be further compared to the genre of theory anthologies that became popular in the 1990s. Fred Rush's On Architecture(2009) features in Routledge's"Thinking in Action series, which"takes philosophy to its public" composed mostly of non-experts. Rush is a philosopher with interests in phenomenology and speculation on the experience of architecture, an approach which sets the tone of the book. Colin Davies' Thinking about Architecture: An Introduction to Architectural Theory(2011) is also pitched towards a broad audience. Its author a professor of architectural theory at London Metropolitan University provides a more inclusive account of his discipline's theoretical sources and current thinking.
