millennia.Incontraposition,modernattentiontothehistoryofboth
‘medicine’ and ‘tradition’ showsusthatbothareconstantlytrans-
forming,makingandremakingthemselvesinordertosurviveandbe
successfulinachangingworld(Lo andRenton,2011;Taylor,2005).
Thisfactpotentiallypresentsachallengetoanymodernrandomised
controlledtrialthatassumesatraditionalmedicinetobeastatic
entity,carryingwithitthousands of yearsofempiricalknowledge
(Heinrichetal.,2006). Thusintailoringtraditionstomodernclinical
