When trying to build a brand, one of the most important thing that has to be designed is a striking and consistent visual identity—to do so, a style guide, or branding manual, would come in very handy.
Writer Mary Stribley of Canva Design School has recently compiled a collection of “50 meticulous style guides every startup should see before launching”—the list includes companies from various industries—from tech firms to football clubs—and features famous big names like Google, Nike and Barnes & Noble.
These thoughtful, well-executed and very detailed style guides show that every small element of a brand needs to look just right for the branding materials to be effective—according to Stribley, “a brand is like a machine” and “having all of these tiny details recorded and defined allows for you to maintain your brand and make sure your machine runs smoothly, with all parts intact”.
