This research deals with the study of the efficiency of inhibiting Staphylococcus aureus by sappan wood’s extract. Furthermore, to study and compare the efficiency of three solvents in making the extracts, to find the minimum inhibition concentration of the sappan wood extract and last, is to measure the efficiency of inhibiting the S. aureus.
This project was divided into 4 parts; Part 1, is to study and compare the efficiency of 3 solvents of sappan woods. The result showed that applying Ethanol of 95% with a clear zone of 25.862 mm.is the best solvent concentration. Part 2, deals with the minimum inhibitory concentration to inhibit the growth of S. aereus. The result showed that using 0.023 mg/ml would in a minimal way stop S. aereus. Part 3, is to study the original cream content and mixing it with sappan wood extract. It was found out that color of the cream change from light to dark brown of color. Part 4, is to study the efficiency of inhibiting S. aereus using the cream product with sappan wod extract. The results showed that by extracting 0.18 ml/ml with a clear zone of 0.475 cm, the minimal inhibition concentration is achieved.
