The U.S. Department of Education (2013) defined
grit as "perseverance to accomplish long-term or
higher-order goals in the face of challenges and
setbacks, engaging the student's psychological
resources, such as their academic mindsets, effortful
control, and strategies and tactics" (p. 15).
Therefore, promoting opportunities for students
to develop and work on long-term goals is a good
strategy to develop and strengthen grit. Amy Lyon
(Edutopia, 2014) has designed a curriculum to help
