Strengthening food production in the developing countries
Even if the amount of food produced in the world is sufficient to feed the world population, the distribution of this production is a problem.
More self-sufficiency is important for the poor countries.
Besides, now the rich-country research agendas are shifting.
In particular, they are no longer as interested in simple productivity enhancement;dietary patterns and other priorities change as incomes increase (Pardey et al., 2006).
May be in the long-term they will not be able to respond to the demand for food from the developing countries.
