Fortunately for me, I did manage to get into college. Many college and universities in the United States require students to take courses in a variety of different subject areas, including math and science. I was lucky because my university didn’t have such requirements, so I didn’t need to take math. Instead, I took a course called The Philosophy of Mathematics. I don’t think that I would have taken the class, except that a friend of mine decided to enroll, and she convinced me to enroll, too. The professor was very interesting and was passionate about his subject. And the class was really more about ideas than about numbers.
