On this day : The Bagnold Dunes photographed by the rover #Curiosity near the north-western slope of the Mount Sharp, the central peak of the Gale crater.
These dunes, which move themselves on the surface of #Mars a meter every year, were the first examples observed of sand dunes moved by the wind in the solar system, after the terrestrial ones.
Curiosity, which landed on Mars on August 6th 2012, obtained this image on September 25th 2015, during its 1115th day on the Martian surface.
