3*5 Cards and E-mail Pagonis introduced SLG employees to the practice of writing notes on 3*5 cards to keep him and other senior managers informed of issues as they arose. The notes were meant to be handwritten {unless a subordinate couldn’t write legibly}, simple, and short. Cards were forwarded through the writer’s director to Pagonis unless the information was personal or confidential. In that case, the note was placed in a sealed blue envelope marked “3*5 card for Gus.” Cards could also be delivered to Pagonis or staff anywhere in the United States by fax or by using a specially designed, e-mail format available on the Sears network.
