I am not and may never be a fan of Steve Jobs, the Apple co-founder, for at least two main reasons.
First, I was interested to read about him only after his death. Sorry, no offense. I woke up in the morning and heard (not listened to) of his death on the radio. I thought he was a kind of celebrity so I forced myself to wake up because of my online instinct and updated my news website. That’s it.
I felt pleased to be able to become among the first to announce his demise. Another sorry. Please stop reading if this bothers you.
Later, I found my colleagues who work with me in another news website came up with a barrage of news and news feature postings about him. One of them had drawn my attention as the post runs the entire transcript of his speech at Stanford University’s 114th Commencement on June 12, 2005.
I read it and checked it on Youtube. This was really moving. I asked one of my reporters to re-run the transcript on the web. She came up with this witty opening she took from the comment under the video.
