The relationship of information to a point
in time or a period of time also is important
context to the use of information.
Information that was relevant during one
period may become irrelevant during a
different period because its context is not
appropriate for the use of the information
in the different period. For example, the
sale of punch cards was useful in the past
as a predictor of computer usage; however,
it is no longer valid for that purpose today.
The usefulness of information changes over
time and requires the responsible party to
continually consider the subject matter and
the context in order to evaluate relevance.
