Eleven companies are decreasing the impact of
their mode of transportation by switching to a more
environmentally friendly mode or improving the existing method’s capacity utilization. HP, Baxter,
Lowe’s and Johnson & Johnson are all shifting por-
tions of road transport to rail, and HP, Dell, Limited
Brands and Estée Lauder are converting air shipments to ground or ocean transport. Eight companies
are reconfiguring pallets and packaging to increase
trailers’ volume efficiency. Baxter International Inc.
collaborates with supply chain partners to decrease
the number of loads and eliminate empty miles.
