By adding 13.32 µM of BAP, together with 5.40 µM of ANA, increase in buds production per explant (9.82) was observed. This way, hormone balance between cytokinin BAP and auxin ANA favored higher number of multiple sproutings in torch ginger (Figure 3A). Similar results were found during the initial cultivation phase of the same species when using 21.98 µM of BAP and 4.97 µM of -naphthaleneacetic acid (AIA). In this case, three to four sproutings during the multiplication phase were obtained. The sproutings rooted and formed clumps in MS medium without growth regulators, originating from eight to ten plants per clump monthly (Colombo et al., 2010).
