Dillman (2007) suggests that web surveys can be used simultaneously with postal surveys to maximize response rates and counter the drawback of the other mode. This approach was adopted for our research. Survey packs that consisted of an explanatory letter, an expatriate questionnaire and a stamped addressed envelope were sent to expatriates. Care was also taken not to send out a follow-up invitation to web surveys when the responses from specific individual’s postal surveys had been received. The original research design of this research included expatriate’s co-workers to evaluate expatriate performance as a way to minimize self-rating bias. The findings reveal that the coworker performance ratings were not significantly correlated with the rest of the variables. This required us to drop the ratings in lieu of the expatriate self-rating performance. The details of these can be found in Table 1.
