Officials at the White Temple in Thailand say they plan on building separate bathrooms for non-Chinese visitors after several complaints rolled in about Chinese tourists trashing the toilets and leaving them 'unusable' for others.
"They had defecated on the floor, urinated on the walls outside and left sanitary pads on the wall of the bathrooms," an official at the temple, also known as Wat Rong Khun, told German news agency DPA.
The report also quoted Chalermchai Kositpipat, the temple's designer, who said in a TV interview earlier that it was "impossible" for other visitors to use the bathrooms, so he planned on building new ones.
Chinese tourists have recently been making headlines in Thailand for all the wrong reasons. From the lady who was spotted drying out her unmentionables at a Thai airport to the now infamous instant-noodle-gate of December 2014, the trend has not gone unnoticed by Thai media, which, after a recent incident involving a stolen pedicab in Chiang Rai, went as far as to report: "Chinese tourists again!"
If this report is true, it is lavatorial apartheid and must be denounced in the strongest terms. At least that's what we assume Chinese media will say (it has already proven to be incredibly sensitive about such issues).
