The high pressure over the northeast of Thailand will blanker the upper part of the country on Sunday, weather officials say, with varying thundershowers and strong winds, and temperature drops of between 6 and 10 degree Celsius.
The weather forecast for all regions during Jan 24-25 is as follows:
North: Minimum temperature 8-14 degrees Celsius with isolated frosts on mountain tops.
Northeast: Minimum temperature 8-15 degrees Celsius.
Central and East: Minimum temperature 14-18 degrees Celsius.
Bangkok Metropolis and vicinity: Minimum temperature 16-18 degrees Celcius.
During Jan 25-26, the westerly trough from Myanmar will cover the North and Northeast, resulting in an outbreak of persistent cold weather. People are advised to keep warm and watch their health due to the severe changeable weather.
The northeast monsoon across the South and the Gulf of Thailand will intensify with much more rain, as well as isolated heavy thundershowers.
The wind waves in the Gulf of Thailand are expected at 2-3 metres high. All people should beware of high inshore surf. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats keep ashore during Jan 24-27.
