The analysis of the use of Face-threatening acts (FTAs), the researcher employed the framework of Brown and Levinson (1987) mentioned that politeness is the using of language in order to save the hearers’ face. He categorizes a chart of the Face-threatening acts (FTAs) of the speaker as follow:
1. without redressive action
2. positive politeness
3. negative politeness
4. off record
5. don’t do the FTAs
For this study, the researcher considers only four levels as without redressive action, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off record but do not consider "don’t do the FTAs" because the refusal is the action that the listener loss benefit or lose face.
