Many product lines were expanded by the end of the decade including Chanel shoes, watches, RTW, cosmetics and accessories. The company also purchased ERES, a luxury swimwear and lingerie design house.
Rights to Chanel’s extensive range of products have been solely held by the Wertheimers since 1954. By not sharing producer or distribution rights with any other company, they have kept a level of creative control not available to other labels who have fallen under the umbrella of larger corporations.
