As for memory, some writers have sought to explain its complex operations by hypothesiz the existence of such subdivisions as short-term and long-term memory and by identifying a variety of factors affecting the storage and retrieval of information. Others have rejected the notion of such components as short-and long term memory and speak instead of different depths or levels of processing (Craik & Lockhart, 1972). In effect, there continues to be a diversity of notions about how memory operates.
