Directioners were going to be obsessing all weekend anyway. At least they'll have something to do.
As part of One Direction's campaign leading up to Monday's release of Midnight Memories, the British boy band will host 1D Day, a seven-hour live online stream originating from Los Angeles.
The event will stream on YouTube and Google+ starting at 2 p.m. ET. Throughout the seven hours, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson will debut tracks from Midnight Memories, crash Google hangout parties and attempt to set world records. Guests including Robbie Williams, Celine Dion, Simon Cowell and the Muppets will appear throughout.
One Direction has been ramping up to 1D Day since early October, presenting fans with a series of challenges, including getting them to create art and make their own music videos in hopes of having them shown during the stream. (MTV has compiled some of its favorites.)
