This can probably be explained
by the fact that the difference between the two methods was
relatively large at one site, Ranong, where the in situ transects
still suggest some progress (3 1 m y1) but the remote sensing
method showed little progress (0.3 0.03 m y1, Fig. 2).
In the other sites both methods yielded rather comparable estimates
of mangrove progression.
