Overall, Stewart and Knowles' paper finds
that graduate labour markets are changing.
As well as producing an increasing emphasis
on SMEs as a source of graduate recruitment,
these changes are also placing greater
emphasis on the employability and career
self-management of graduates. Both of these
latter elements demand a focus on the
acquisition and development of ``transferable
skills''. They also demand a response from
HEIs in relation to the curriculum and
delivery of their undergraduate programmes.
One suggestion, put forward in Stewart and
Knowles' paper, is a greater focus in both
content and delivery on developing selfawareness
and opportunity awareness on the
part of students and on the ability to create a
``match'' between the two through the
development of transferable skills.the models may be applied within
