This study is an attempt to help instructional technologists adopt methods to
improve instructional production processes like those used by automobile manufacturers
over the last 50 or more years. One method used by the automobile industry to improve
production processes is the use of value stream mapping as a means of standardizing and
improving production processes. The methods of value stream mapping that are used in
the automobile industry are not entirely equipped for use in instructional production. This study produced a value stream mapping method that was adapted from a successful
model used in the manufacturing industry.
