The maximum amount of metal uptake by the hydrogel under optimum condition was 93.5%, 88.4% and 85.5% of Pb, Cu and Cd ions, respectively.The sorption kinetics showed that the sorption process of all metalions on CMSS-acid hydrogel can be fitted by pseudo-second order equation. The isotherm study shows that the sorption between Pbion and CMSS-acid hydrogel fitted the Freundlich model, while the other two metal ions (Cu and Cd) fitted the Langmuir isotherm model
