Therefore,it was expected,that feeding a higher allocation of high quality
phase 1 and phase 2 diets would improve growth performance,especially in the earlier weaned pigs.Lawloretal.
(2002) investigated two allocations of phase 1 and phase 2
diets on heavy and light pigs at weaning.Their study did
find that growth rate was increased and FCR improved as a
result of increasing the allocation of phase 1 and phase 2
diets; however,the allocations were much greater than
those investigated in the current study with the higher
allocation being 10 kg of phase 1 diet,followed by a phase 2
diet to 27 days postweaning which possibly explains the
discrepancy in results between the two studies.
