Risk management is an organizational process directed
towards loss prevention and minimizing liability. The goals
of a risk management program in a health-care organization
are to: (a) identify deficient patterns which may result in
injury to patients, visitors or employees; and (b) protect
the financial assets of the organization. From a clinical
perspective, risk management can be defined as a process
aimed at preventing patient injuries, medical malpractice
claims and financial losses (Roberts, 1989).
