Treatment with 100–1000 ppm chlorine gradually
reduced the number of total mesophilic bacteria (3.70–
2.00 log10 CFU/g) in raw rice. Treatment with 100–200 ppm
chlorine reduced the number of coliforms (2.57–
1.93 log10 CFU/g) in raw rice. Coliforms were absent after
treatment with 250 ppm chlorine. According to a study by
