Despite the issue of inflated principals’ self-report ratings, a recent meta-analysis of 52 empirical
studies that had used the PIMRS indicated that the reliability of both the principal and teacher forms of the PIMRS was very consistent across organizational and cultural settings (Hallinger et al., 2012).
This suggests that results based on analysis of both datasets can be utilized reliably for developing
instructional leadership profiles. However, interpretation must be undertaken with care.
