The axial skeleton of the corn snake consists of a total of 308 vertebrae (Fig. 1) and the anatomical subdivision is listed in Table 1.
Characteristic features include the complete absence of limb girdles, sternal elements, forelimbs and hindlimbs and the presence of homogeneous ribs on all but the 3 most anterior pre-cloacal vertebrae.
