Objective:
Students will reinterpret and revitalize a nursery rhyme while developing a visual, graphic vocabulary within the parameters of a limited set of images.
Activities:
Using a given format (6 design areas), create visual equivalents for each part of the nursery rhyme "Jack and Jill." The marks, symbols, and pictograms can be used individually or combined to develop visual metaphor.
Use consistent imagery: Remember that you are communicating a story that requires continuity. Don't add confusion by introducing too many varied elements or characters. For example, if you have chosen, in frame one, to represent Jack as a "star" and Jill as "heart," don't suddenly turn Jack into a "dinosaur" and Jill into a "monkey" in a later frame. (Unity)
THINK ABOUT how you are composing each frame. Ask yourself: should something be larger, smaller, cropped off the edge? Try not to place things randomly without thought.
